Sustainability Framework
TAPG sees the importance of collaboration with other stakeholders to achieve shared goals, mainly supporting the achievement of United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs) and also maintaining the balance between people, planet and prosperity. In light of that, we actively cooperate with the community, government, non-governmental organizations, academics, and associations to achieve the goals.

PEOPLE
Realizing Poverty Eradication, Rural Development and Smallholders Engagement

In order to achieve the goal of realizing business sustainability, food security, community empowerment, and environmental protection, the Company also collaborates through the development of the smallholder program. The Company established a partnership with scheme smallholders.

Moreover, through corporate social responsibility (CSR) programs and community development programs, the Company tries improving the quality of life for the people living nearby the Company's locations, including those nearby the Company's concession areas. Regarding that matter, we established Desa Makmur Peduli Api or Prosperous Fire-free Village (DMPA) program. This program aims to promote the growth of inclusive community economic activities for food security achievement, in addition to palm oil cultivation. Through DMPA program, the Company builds the community's awareness of environmental protection as well as prevention of land and forest fires.
Collaborating with Scheme Smallholders

The Company is committed to implementing the Plantation Law Number 39 of 2014 regarding Plantations, particularly the Article 58 regarding Partnership. This is fulfilled by establishing Scheme smallholder oil palm plantations for the communities nearby the Company's concession areas. These communities are our fostered partners. This shows our commitment to ensuring the prosperity of the communities nearby the Company's premises.
Respecting Human Rights and Diversity

TAPG upholds human rights fulfillment in accordance with the United Nations (UN) Declaration related to Human Rights as well as the International Labor Organization (ILO) convention on labor standards and the applicable law and regulations.
Additionally, the Company disapproves all forms and acts of discrimination and violence, including gender violence, against its employees. We also make sure to always prioritize the rights of the community, mainly the indigenous and local communities, by enforcing the principle of consent without pressure and impartial information, known as the principle of free, prior, and informed consent (FPIC).
PLANET
Biodiversity Conservation

The Company has the commitment to develop sustainable and eco-friendly palm oil plantations. This is fulfilled through a prudent, systematic, and integrated approach aiming at preserving the living environment and preventing pollution and/or damage to the environment. Steps taken by the Company include protecting the high conservation value (HCV) and high carbon stock (HCS) Areas, implementing waste management practices, and mitigating the greenhouse gases.

The conservation programs carried out include identifying HCV and HCS areas, delineating boundaries and securing HCV areas, awareness training for internal staffs and employees, as well as socialization and engagement to promote the conservation awareness to community. We also manage and monitor flora and fauna, including the protected species. A special task force has been formed to handle wildlife and the protected animals.

Climate Change Mitigation

To prevent greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, we are committed to zero burning land clearing. Furthermore, we carry out forest and land fire prevention and mitigation programs.

In the identification and program of GHG emission reduction, we use calculation methods approved by ISPO, RSPO, or their equivalent method. The method requires monitoring and reporting verified by the certification body on a regular basis. GHG emission reduction, for example, is carried out by using biomass derived from palm oil processing waste as an energy source in every mill operated by TAPG. In this effort, the Company also conducted climate risk assessment (hyperlink).

PROSPERITY
Contributing to the Energy and Food Security

In operating its business, TAPG always applies the best practices and maintains the principle of sustainability. The Company at all times tries to contribute to the energy and food security and is committed to maintaining long-term economic viability.

The Company supports the government programs promoting the use of biodiesel with palm oil as biofuel. We believe that Indonesia can become a major player in satisfying the world's biodiesel demand, especially in the long run. Additionally, such a use will contribute to reduce the current problem regarding domestic energy use.
We also support the government in promoting the national food security. We collaborate with the government in the making of palm oil and its derivative products, as one of the sustainable solutions to meet needs related to food. If the Company manages palm oil plantations in a sustainable manner, the economy and social welfare will automatically be strengthened. We believe that palm oil plantations are the most efficient producer of vegetable oil, useful especially in strengthening the food and energy security.
