Prevention and Countermeasures Forest & Land Fire

TAPG has a strong commitment to preventing forest and land fires. To realize this commitment, we have prepared facilities and infrastructures for the prevention and control of forest and land fires. We carried out water management by building canal blockings and water reservoirs, establishing early detection, and warning systems, conducting routine patrols, and promoting the prevention of forest and land fires by engaging employees, the community, and the local government.

As for the control of forest and land fires, we have formed a Forest and Land Fire Control Task Force (Satgas Dalkarhutla) consisting of a Chair, Secretary, Core Team, Support Team, Assisting Team, and Person(s) in Charge of Various Affairs. Persons in Charge of Various Affairs are divided according to the tasks of prevention, suppression, logistics, rescue, and evacuation.

In addition, we have also formed Fire Concerned Farmers Group (KTPA) in all villages surrounding the Company's concession areas. This is done to ensure the Company can collaborate with the local government officials and village communities in preventing and overcoming fire disasters. Further, we also give gifts or rewards to villages that manage to keep their area free from forest and land fires for a whole year. This activity is part of the Desa Makmur Peduli Api (DMPA)/Prosperous Fire-free Village program.

In order to improve our competence, the Company routinely provides trainings on the preparedness and responsiveness of the internal and external members of Satgas Dalkarhutla. The trainings provided are on fire mitigation, prevention, and control.  Internally, we provide forest and land fire countermeasure simulation regularly, at the very least twice a year. Whereas externally, we also foster a coordination with Balai Pengendalian Perubahan Iklim dan Kebakaran Hutan dan Lahan (BPPIKHL).

The information about the Company's activities to prevent forest and land fires can be found in the Sustainability Report 2022 page 68.
